watching " big air" on olympics... HOW do these athletes keep track of what's up?? that's a rhetorical question, since nobody else here knows any more than i do about this sport.

1. They've been doing it for years so it's almost instinctive.
2. There are markings on the slope that guides them as to "what's up".
3. There actually are people here who know more than you do about this sport.

Looks like another swampy day at the ranch.
Maybe I'll finally finish the big patch that covers/fills where the exhaust fan used to be in the utility room.
Final sanding, then paint.
The height of rural excitement when it's sloppy outside.

Mid 40s expected today. Lots of sunsine right now. A late start for me at work today (9:00 instead of 7:00). It's been nice being able to relax a bit before going in. Just a six-hour day for me today. Need to run a few errands after work. That's about it. Such an exciting life here in NEPA.

Such an exciting life here in NEPA. has this winters "wintry" weather help the outdoor recreation stuff in NEPA? used to ski and the poconos (from Blue Mountain up to Montage) and they've taken a brutal beating with covid. if i'm correct, slopes were open for skiing/boarding/tubing last winter BUT lodges were kinda off limits. couldn't even use restrooms... port-a-potties instead. |

will probably get to 500 today here in middle of NJ... only a few degrees shy of that right now (12:45).
just filled 3 washers in laundry room... and and least one more load to come.

Because we had such a warm start to the season with above-average temps Nov, Dec, early Jan, it was difficult for the resorts to make snow. Most didn't open before mid-Jan, and then it was just with a couple slopes open for use. Most have all slopes open now but Elk Mt is having some issues with a couple of their lifts, having to rescue hundreds when they lifts stopped working. I have skied Montage for the last 20 years or so. IMO, it is the best skiing on the Eastern seaboard. And, I have skied VT, NH, NY, PA. |
