Well they're wrong and why do you listen? I've been told what I believe is a fairytale and I'm stupid for believing it. They don't know what I know so I don't listen.

1> I did say "still some places"... alluding to the fact that they are becoming fewer and fewer. 2> How would the words "In Allah We Trust" be forcing anything on you if that was the phrase instead? Would you mind if that was on our money? 3> I wasn't talking about businesses choosing anything. I was talking about laws forcing them to not be able to. Did you miss the "outlaw" in "Places that OUTLAW"? My county had just such a law until 4 years ago. No alcohol sales on Sunday. Not in stores, Not in Restaurants... NOWHERE. And there are still "dry" counties in this state (fun fact: Jack Daniels is actually distilled in a "dry" county in Tennessee) 1> So it's going away. Just what you want not the other way around. 2> If Allah had been the prominent God of the founding fathers (no not all believed in a Christian God) then you'd have quite a different country but mostly I don't read the money anymore than to choose a 10 or a 5. 3> Move or work to get these stupid old laws removed. There are plenty of new laws that I find anti-religious so it's a two way street. 1> It's going away NOW... that doesn't mean that the trend couldn't reverse course. 2> References to God in our government were added WAY after the founding of the country ("In God We Trust" was added to currency in 1956 and "under God" was added to the pledge in 1954) 3> I have no problem with that suggestion (move or work) when possible. But where there are people working to improve things and get rid of those stupid laws, there are also those working to keep them or create new ones. 3A> The only way to be fair to all is to be non-religious in general society. That way no belief system is forced upon others.

Life isn't fair. In order for your perfect world there would be more anti-religious laws.

People should be allowed to practice their beliefs on their property or in/on/at their religious places of worship... without interference (I'd even say to include sacrifice... so long as the sacrificial individual is a believer and is willing to be sacrificed).

That's just odd. I would never support sacrificing anything but especially not a human willing or not.

That's just odd. I would never support sacrificing anything but especially not a human willing or not. There's nothing odd about it. If their religion requires sacrifice, they believe their sacrifice matters. They are practicing their beliefs. It's no different than any other religious belief. Personally I would consider "ritual sacrifice" the same as suicide... if it requires a willing sacrifice. For the record I also believe in euthanasia. Let people who want to, die with dignity. Don't force people to suffer just because your (general) beliefs have a problem with it.

No it's murder. You're whacked. Euthanasia is another subject all together.

Being a WILLING sacrifice for religious purposes is assisted (assuming someone else performs the actual act) suicide as far as I'm concerned. They willingly chose to end their own life, according to their religious beliefs. It's no different than anyone else that kills themselves (and ONLY themselves) over religion.

If it could INDIRECTLY be seen or heard by others (but not affect them in any direct way)... no, I'm not saying that. For example: If your religion says discrimination is good... discriminate at your home or in your house of worship all you like... but if you open a business you must serve all who choose to enter your establishment equally. On the other hand, if your religion says you must wear a symbol of the faith or dress in a certain specified manner and/or decorate any places that you own with such symbols, then that's fine.

To me they are the same (so long as it's a person's free will, uncoerced [except by religious tenet that they freely choose to believe in] choice): " I (the person freely choosing) choose to end my life". ETA: I have to ask... how is euthanasia different to you than assisted suicide? It's literally suicide (of a dying person... but before nature would take them) that someone assists with.

Would there be someone to watch and approve each sacrifice? I don't care how you spin it it is murder and that's illegal and always will be.

I changed my mind!"... obviously. I'm guessing the congregation would watch and approve. I agree that by CURRENT LAW it is murder. Guess what else used to be illegal in many states: Suicide (it was a felony). ETA: But... let's remember... I'm not saying that I support sacrifice. I said very clearly that I support religions that believe in it being allowed to practice it with their own faithful.

I support religious beliefs as long as they are LEGAL. So you'd support some Muslims stoning people and honor killings because it's their "belief"?
