have had pets most of my life. had dogs... big ones... pure-bred... with false bad reputations. when i lost the last one 90 lbs of goofy doberman, realized a large dog was physically too difficult... i ain't no spring chicken.
i'm on my second cat... from country animal shelter. she's 100% cat. super nocturnal. could be trying to KILL me! i have to shuffle around my apartment cuz she'll come out of nowhere.
cats aren't dogs... duh! both animals make great companions and both have superior qualities lacking by the other.
do you have pets? where did they come from?
oh, might as well start my own "fight". if i can state my opinion without bleeding. IMNSHO, cats and dogs are about the only domesticated animals that are really pets. if you can't let an animal wander LOOSE and unmonitored where you live, it's something other than a pet. rabbits/hamsters/ferrets/etc... rodents... not pets. fish... decor. snakes... sign of something lacking?? as soon as someone fails to understand that i am not provoking a fight... gonna delete this paragraph!

We adopted three kittens that were left by the neighbors when they moved. I lost them one by one and the last one was pretty recent after he was with us 22 years. My mom has a dog that I will inherit at some point as mom's not doing well and the dog is fairly young. It will help .

Ms Pi... stray from county shelter. got her at estimated 8-12 weeks old. looked like black cat with one tan paw. has grown into tortoiseshell. my shelter has free adoptions for seniors, military and county residents. Pi (cuz estimated birthday is mid March) came spayed, up to date shots/worming for little girl, SPAYED and chipped! and FREE!

Don’t over feed them It puts extra stress on their back so right. pets can't feed themselves, so if they get too heavy and develop weight related issues it's the owners fault!my sil adopted a rescue golden retriever... already about 6-7 yo... nicest dog on earth. poor thing at her biggest was close to 200 POUNDS! i think they worked her down to under 100, which is still pretty beefy even for a golden. her joints (hips, elbows) were totally shot. she lived out the rest of her life as the best dog on earth to my niece.

I’ve had to yell at Larry about over feeding
If you give them TWO scoops of kibble twice a day, they’ll eat it and make themselves sick
ONE scoop in the morning ONE at night
Soft treats too Tear them in half
I even had to get our vet to tell him that I was right

I have a Siberian husky/German Shepard mix that my sister got from the Humane Society in Wisconsin. I have been taking care of him because my living conditions are more suitable for him. I have a calico cat that was rescued from off the side of the road as a kitten in Maryland. I also take care of two very friendly gray tabbies that showed up for food. I believe that the neighbor left them behind.

We always have a cat.
We've gotten to old to keep up with a dog, like having a kid almost, lol.
We always have male cats because they seem to get more attached to us, that might just be luck of the draw however.

JMA23... when i had dogs, there would eventually be the accidental stepping on of toes... by ME... sounding like they were DYING... no i'm not THAT big. then the rest of the day, the DOG was begging for my forgiveness! now with a cat, occasional toe/tail stomps are met with disdain... like i did it on purpose!
