This is from my friend who used to be at the Veteran's Eagle's Healing Nest here in town. Her husband and she work with Samaritan's Purse and went to NC to Volunteer. This was her post today.
When you wonder where your year-end donations should go, if you question if you should ever come and help, let me share something one of the Samaritan’s Purse teams received on a Thank you card from the homeowners they served:
"I saw God today! He didn't come down from the heavens in a long robe and sandals. He came in many forms, male & female, young & old, and from all over the U.S. He came in a van, a pick-up truck, and a car. He wore an orange shirt. He didn't ask if I was a believer, my political affiliation, or what I could pay. Instead God asked, "How can I help?" "What can I do to make your life easier?" I heard God today! There were prayers, there were hugs. The real music to my ears was the sound of chainsaws and blowers, of laughter and comraderie, and most of all, the genuine feeling of love, of caring. When God told us to love our neighbors as we do Him and ourselves, He must have had Samaritan's Purse in His mind. You "talk the talk" and "walk the walk"! We are grateful to each and every one of you for your time, your work, and most of all your love." ~B & E (sorry I couldn't read their full names from the photograph of the card)
