Nick dropped me off for my Doctor appointment and mammogram. Then he went to pick up our cat at the vet. So when I was done I called him and because it was beautiful out I sat on a bench outside. The clinic is part of the Hospital and a Nursing home complex. Something people don't seem to understand is when areas are quiet how much sound travels. There was a man sitting down by the Nursing home section on his phone. I was quite a distance away at the clinic but I could hear his phone conversation like I was sitting next to him. Now I do not know if he was a Doctor, a Priest or something else but he was talking to someone about his busy week. He started talking about being called to the nursing home because someone was, his words "actively dying'. Then he started laughing about how before 'she' died she asked for a huge dinner and music and hours later she was still eating and singing. Then he said "so she sure wasn't actively dying" and laughed. I found that very offensive. A woman died celebrating life and he found it funny. Thankfully Nick showed up before I walked over to tell him what an a-hole he was.

it's not so much that they discuss this kind of stuff on their phones, but at a volume where you're kind of almost forced to participate in the conversation. if I knew the person should not be discussing confidential info, might be tempted to say something to them.

Yeah it's funny how many people don't realize how much their voices travel when it's quite out.

I think some (many?) are just looking for the attention of being so loud... usually with their phone stuck out from their faces in an odd way that's hard to not notice.
