Do you think citizens should be able to own a gun? Do you think permits should be harder to get to own one?

yes and yes. a person should have to prove they're not a criminal or crazy before they get a gun permit. there should be a reasonable waiting period. military weapons should not be owned by civilians. for those who CRAVE firing military weapons, there should be a strictly monitored/licensed place to do that.
former co-worker told of a friend who owns a BIG chunk of NJ in the pine barrens. he holds "zombie weekends" where people pay big money to fire those kinds of weapons at targets. i don't know the details but hopefully it's not run willy nilly.
there should probably be a limit on how many weapons and how much ammo is reasonable for a reasonable person to have. could be urban legend but story goes that there are lots of "militia" type place in the pine barrens and in Poconos in nextdoor PA.

outlaw, I agree. I think that it should be a tougher background check because some states barely have one. Here I can fill out a form and get a handgun. But I do believe every person has the right to own a gun. Maybe not an automatic rifle...

EVERY person? the guy/gal who gets -faced and slaps his other-half around? mentally challenged individuals for a lot of reasons. a 9 year old who is obsessed with weapons. i am NOT snarking at you. i pretty much agree, but this topic is perfect example of our lawmakers needing to grow a set and come up with workable firearms laws. a nationwide set of regulations would be really difficult to put together. i doubt putting together a set of rules that EVERY person would be happy with is even possible. those guys & gals that WE pay to put together laws that are fair and just need to get off their asses, take a stand and be HONEST. they should be prepared to take the spanking that they would surely get. one sane poster to another!  |
