i know kennett square, PA is the "mushroom capital" and doubt you could find many supermarket schrooms that don't come from that area.
now i'm curious and will look at blueberry packaging next time i'm at shoprite.
seems we've become an almost seasonless country. when i was a kid, you just could NOT find blueberries in supermarket n january. you could only find fresh asparagus or strawberries in June. now you can get pretty much every fruit/veggie 12 months a year. not saying a supermarket tomato is ever acceptable even in the "Garden State".

I used to hate mushrooms Now I love them Fresh In salad Sautéed in garlic butter could it be that the mushrooms you "hated" were from a can and not fresh? i have a theory about "hate" when it comes to inanimate objects. 1... you can't hate something who hasn't done something to wrong you. 2... you can't hate any food you haven't at least tried... dare i say more than one taste when you were 4. 3... i suspect that veggies people claim to "hate" are ones they have only had canned... like mushrooms, asparagus, peas, etc. most frozen veggies can stand their own with fresh, but most canned have ZERO resemblance to frozen or fresh. imo, canned beets are as good as fresh. fresh, sliced, RAW mushrooms (larger white) make a great almost NO calorie "chip". makes the dip a bit less guilty. |
