Chicago's teachers are threatening to go on strike. Talk about nerve! A third of the kids can't read or write at the level they should and they want more money? Then again there's a teacher I know of who can't even spell. And posts things R EWE SPECHIL Teaching might not be the best job in the world or pay a lot but what other jobs do you get 3 months off? And summer months at that. have no stats to back this up, but suspect there are a significant number of teachers who find summer jobs to fill in that gap.

I bet some of them do find part time jobs not just for the extra money but to stay busy. Three months is a long time to be on vacation.

I bet some of them do find part time jobs not just for the extra money but to stay busy. Three months is a long time to be on vacation. typical students/teachers in my area (delaware valley) go to school for 180 days. from late-august/early-september to around mid-june. unless you were lucky enough to go on actual vacations, by the time you got to July 4th... kids could be starting to whine that they're bored. unless you have a "vacation" home, adults are bored by now, too. almost like summer was over by now. when i was a kid, dad got a membership to local swim club... literally a touch over a block away. we LIVED there. but friends who were fortunate enough to GO places... we didn't see them till school started again in september. first summer job was day-camp counselor... summers while in college. as a teacher, i never had a summer job. i just totally vegged out for those 10 weeks... except for the one summer whre i was taking certification classes.

I like them but the way people talk/type is downright scary. Yes, we all make typos and autocorrect can make it worse. But when I see people miss spell simple words or use stuff like "R EWE" instead of 'are you' it makes me wonder about their basic intelligence. I've seen some sentences in my time that make me wonder just what our educational system is doing. I just ignore people that want to correct me .

Some people make errors from autocorrect and posting from a phone. Like me i thoroughly enjoy a typo or auto-correct that results in a true LOL... especially when i miss it and someone else brings it to the world's attention!
