So, right now I have it as an open board so guests can view and post and possibly join if they choose. However, I also can lock the board to members only at any time I want to and have done so as well. In addition, I can set up threads that can only be viewed by members and not guests. |

In addition, I can set up threads that can only be viewed by members and not guests. if i come across a new board, i'm more likely to join if i can see what kind of activity goes on there. often a board won't even let you see what kind of conversations people are having... i leave then. i just don't think it's a very good thing to let someone who is not willing to commit and join post things. |

If it's open then they can post GEEZ! you wanna fight about everything, dontcha?!? i was only saying, if i ran this f-ing circus, i'd be doing a lot of tweaking. if i wanted membership to grow, i'd rein in the wild things... i think taming only ONE would bring others back to earth. i would definitely want potential members/contributors to see what goes on here so they could decide if it was a good fit for them. some boards limit certain areas of a board to new members until they have a certain number of posts. letting people post without being a member just leaves things wide-open for trolling. |
