i like double walled (metal or plastic) bottles/containers. leak-proof so a tip over doesn't mean a dribble. a screw on lid, not just one that pushes on... so a drop or tip doesn't make a puddle. i would fill container with iced all the way to top before heading to school. would fill with water after i gt there. a good bottle container would still have ice when i got home. the ones shaped like an actual bottle are cute, but too tedious to fill. I never heard of taking water bottles to school with you.I know we never did!

I worked with a guy who used to bring a huge plastic water bottle to work which was frozen. As it thaws throughout the day, he would drink the thawed cold water. I used to keep a plastic water bottle in my car that I would refill until a doctor friend of mind told me the heat caused the plastic to leach in to the water I was drinking. Now I carry stainless steel water bottles. Yes,never leave plastoc water bottles in your car overnight.I keep mine in my purse or in the fridge.
