When we were in Tennessee, there was one restaurant where they were understaffed. The kitchen was bogged down. The waiter and manager came out and apologized and comped dessert. We saw it was taking a bit of time between appetizers and the meal, but understood and never said anything. The waiter was upset because he brought out a meal for a party who had just been seated and saw that our food hadn't come. I had noticed it as well but saw that he recognized it and acted promptly. The manager came out voluntarily and thanked us for our patience and said they were having trouble getting people to work because of the $600/wk checks for sitting on their butts. I think a lot of restaurants are experiencing the same thing as I see help wanted signs in most places. We eat out at least once a week and have had good experiences around here. But there are help wanted signs here as well. Usually they try to rush you through.I always tell them we are in no hurry. |
