One cannot have a rational conversation when everything is turned into racism. In a us vs. them society, you have to follow one group’s line of thought 100% or you’re aligned with the opposing side. I am the one that gets attacked on these boards by conservatives for acknowledging systematic racism. Glitterbomb, JMA, Fuzzems, and HappyCamper think I am a liberal, but carry on. Well... if you acknowledge something that's unreal, some might have something to say about it. There's no "systemic racism" in the US. Now, if you were talking about a different country, then please accept my apology... after letting us know what other country you were actually talking about.

It is more like agreeing that some of these things do happen rather than embrace the entire notion. I am a skeptic of these claims which Im2 will say is racist. More details later. I have to get to work.

Why does she need to live as a black person? You didn't live my life either Because she'll learn the difference. Fuzzems you don't live in a majority black nation with a system built on black preferential treatment that you must navigate in order to suceed. You have not lived in such a society, you have not been educated in such a society, you have not spent the majority of your life in social or work settings where you have been the minority, none of it. So trying to make an equivalence here just doesn't work. Whites call us racists because of things that have been done to us. You guys try applying the "you judge me by my skin color" when the fact is that we have trusted whites in our lives not to be racists but they have been. For our own protection we just can't assume no one white is a racist. You cannot look at even your lifetime to say that no whites are racists and you should not try making people who are mad because of the racism they face the same as the people who create the racism we are angry about. There are just some things that whites do who are not racist and things whites do who are. We as blacks experience these things from a young age and recognize them as we get older. Just as you have been a woman all your life and have seen different traits in men that allow you to be safe from rape and assault, you do not just idly wonder in the world believing no man does such things. When you meet a man who downplays or disses rape and assault, I am sure you see certain traits and govern yourself accordingly. And I am sure you would believe such a man if he told you after dissing accounts of rape/sexual assault that he would never do such things. Yet when it comes to race we read, see and hear all kinds of things from whites and are not supposed to believe the people doing so are racists.

You are definitely an expert on racism. It must be all that practice.

There is no systemic racism against whites. That's a fact. But for whites to keep telling us what we experience isn't so, or to be skeptical based on not ever facing what's being described is again, indicative of a white supremacist mindset.
"I'm better than you, so I know what you say can't be true."
Everything doesn't get turned into racism Ray, you made some comments that could be construed as such. This is not anout 100 percent of anything, It is about comments that assume blacks don't recognize the need to work hard, and that we blame oppression for lack of sucess.

How have I practiced it exactly? You're a jerk and a blowhard and I don't WANT to hear anything you have to say. How's that?

Yet when it comes to race we read, see and hear all kinds of things from whites and are not supposed to believe the people doing so are racists. I hate to burst your bubble... but I actually have lived under just such oppression. It was ironically called "Affirmative Action". Three things from my life that actually happened: - I literally didn't get scholarships I qualified for because they had to go to lesser qualified black people (and yes, I knew the scholastic achievements of some that got them, because I was in classes with them... they were WAY less qualified BY THEIR TEST SCORES NOT THEIR SKIN COLOR... ergo "black preferential treatment").
- I literally did not get hired for jobs that went to less qualified black people (people that couldn't do the jobs because they didn't have the know-how or training, but I did... but the ratio HAD TO BE MAINTAINED BY LAW... ergo "black preferential treatment").
- I lost out on a housing opportunity (residence in a condo) because of more "black preferential treatment" (I was literally told by the woman working the office "We can't accept anymore white tenants until we have a few more black families"... this one I will freely admit likely wasn't due to ENFORCED Affirmative Action, but more on the staff wanting look like they supported it... and whether forced by law or just their idea... I still didn't get a place to live that I should have gotten).

It's got noting to do with "I'm better than you" and everything to do with "I understand reality better than you, and I don't live in your fantasy world"... that's why "I know what you say [ISN'T] true".

Why? So you can accuse others of causing both? While pretending only you understand?

Black man gunned down by white security guard over loud music dispute in MemphisAlvin Motley Jr., 48, was filling up Saturday at a Kroger Fuel Center at 6660 Poplar Ave., when he got into a dispute with a security guard, Memphis police said. The disagreement was over loud music being played by the victim, his family said, and ended with security guard Gregory Livingston, 54, allegedly shooting Motley in the chest. Motley was pronounced dead at the scene and Livingston was booked into custody, on suspicion of second-degree murder, Memphis police said. Livingston was still in custody on Friday, held in lieu of $1.8 million bail, Shelby County Jail records showed. His next court date is set for Monday. www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/black-man-gunned-down-by-white-security-guard-over-loud-music-dispute-in-memphis/ar-AANhWNF?ocid=msedgntpThis is the kind of thing blacks have had to put up with since America started, yet people can't seem to understand why blacks are frustrated, mad and lash out at whites. Because if whites can attack the capital fo something they made up....
