How do you divide the bills? It’s not rocket science We don't divide bills. A bill comes in, we write a check and pay it. Not sure what you are asking

He’s not good with money I got tired of arguing Plus I think the bills should be divided It’s too much work for one person How does one divide bills in a marriage? Oh the gas bill is mine and the electric bill is DH's? That makes no sense to me at all. And marriage is a life long journey. When you get married your circumstances will change over the course of your life. You might make equal incomes to start then one may make a lot more or one may get laid off or you may choose to have one go part time to be a stay at home for the kids, etc. It's ever changing. And, legally it is an "ours". I would not marry a man I didnt' trust with money. When you've been the 'other woman', you see things differently. There's that little niggling doubt always in the back of of your head. If you were able to take him away from his former wife, what's to stop someone from taking him away from you ? He's that type of guy. That thought is always lurking, so there's a his and mine attitude, instead of 'us'

How do you divide the bills? It’s not rocket science not rocket science nor brain surgery... it's math actually... and a bit of work. i think it may happen more frequently with people who marry later in life... well established... not necessarily "rich". my sister didn't get married till 50+. she and hubby made about same amount of money. she liked to play with numbers... isn't that romantic. any savings/investments they had before marriage... stayed theirs separately. they figured out a reasonable food budget. came up with a number to cover essentials... mortgage, utilities, cable/internet. i think they're on same phone plans... separate. cars/insurance are separate. some amount put into shared savings... both in decision making of how to use that. "toys/games" totally separate. sister just bought new food processor to replace old one that died. though final products are shared in her great cooking, she bought it... he never used it. a bit OCD? sure, but doesn't hurt anybody.

We have a jar for change. It actually has a counter and can tell how much is going in depending on the size. We use it in the plastic Easter eggs we hide from the boys at Easter. It's their big money making event of the year. LOL. We used to get more, back when DH went to the office and would pay for his lunch with cash and get change. Now we just replace the boys' findings with dollars (or deposit a check into their bank accounts) and put the change back in the jar for the next year's egg hunt.

We had one of those here but it got really annoying to deal with.
